An instant replay clip ends the moment you press save, so the moment you wanted is at the end. This skill keeps the end, compresses it so it is easy to send, and never touches the original recording.

What it does

  • Takes the files you name, or the newest recordings in your Videos folder, filtered by game.
  • Keeps the last 30 seconds by default. Ask for any other length, such as 45 or 60 seconds.
  • Writes H.264 video and AAC audio at up to 1080p, set to play straight away when shared.
  • Mixes game and microphone audio into one track when they were saved separately, since most players only play the first.
  • Saves a new file on your Desktop and never overwrites one that is already there.

How it's built

  • It checks every file it wrote. A length more than half a second off is reported as a failure, never as done.
  • A clip shorter than the length you asked for is kept whole, and the reply says so.
